Unit 2 New words: this pencil pen book eraser ruler dictionary that yes no

Teaching aims: To develop the students' using English ability to talk about ownership. Enable students to use the sentences: Is this your/his/her ruler? Yes, it is. No, it isn't.

Teaching tools: Speech cassette, cassette recorder and A multi-media computer.

Language goal: Identify ownership   Learn demonstrative pronouns this, that. Learn the special interrogative sentence guided by What. Learn Yes/No question sentences and brief answers. Learn the sentence pattern How do you spell……?Learn to recognize the owners of objects according to the scene, and corresponding expressions in English. Learn to write "Lost and Found”, Learn to give basic logical judgment according to the context.

New language Is this your pencil? Is that her notebook?, Yes, it is. No, it isn’t. What’s this in English? How do you spell pencil? the alphabet, names of personal possessions Teaching material analysis: This main content in Section A is to learn how to inquire the owners of objects and the corresponding expressions, the usage of the singular demonstrative pronouns and possessive pronouns. I will adopt the Object Guiding Method. Procedures:

Step 1  Revision  Take out some things students have brought and ask them: What’s this? Get one or two students to answer it.

Step 2 Warm-up Hold up some personal possessions and say, This is my pen. This is my book. Point to some things students have brought to class and say, That is her pen, That is his book. Hold up your pen and ask a student, Is this your pen?

Step 3: Presentation Start by locating actual items in the classroom. Hold up each one and say its name. Ask students to repeat .Include: pencil, pen, book, eraser, ruler, pencil case, backpack, pencil sharpener, dictionary. After they say each word, help them find it in their books. Then ask students to match the words and objects in the picture by writing the letter of the object on the blank line after the word. With the teaching method of Using Contest Guessing and Role playing, get the Ss to do Pair work and Group ,and general interrogative sentences by using the teaching pictures or courseware. Make Ss practice conversations, review letters and words in the way of guessing through the inherent logic relation of context at the same time. 3.Emotion、manner and concept of worth This content can train Ss mental spirits in helping others, make them united and friendly ,and not pocket the money they pick up by teaching "Lost and Found". It can inspire them to fall interest in learning English, and make them glad to participate in various kinds of activities and have confidence in expressing in English. 4Teaching focuses and difficulties 1).Ask for and answer the owners of objects 2).Demonstrative pronoun: this that 3).The usage of special interrogative sentences that what guides 4).Yes/No questions and brief answers 5).How do you spell pencil? 6).Learn to write "Lost and Found".                   

Section A

1.Leading  in    This main content in Section A is to learn how to inquire the owners of objects and the corresponding expressions, the usage of the singular demonstrative pronouns, and possessive pronouns. The Object Guiding Method can be adopted. The teacher can prepare the objects related to the text or collect some from Ss introduce them to learn the new words and practice the target sentences What's this in English? Its a/an. Is this/that your/my /his /her book? Yes, it is ./No, it isn't.

2.Grasp    Section A is designed according to different layers. In 1a~1c,learn some personal object nouns, and practice the sentence patterns of Inquiring the owners of objects and the corresponding. In 3a~4b.practice the target language by a series of activities.

3.Cooperation    The main content in Section A is to learn the target language: --Is this your pencil? --Yes, it is .It's my pencil. --Is that your backpack? --No, it isn't. It’s his backpack. Step 1 Demonstration  Use illustrations or the cards of material to let Ss find out the words that have been learnt in preparing book, then teacher communicates with Ss again. (1)Show several pictures about stationery or broadcast the flash cards about stationery : [Demonstrate] What's this in English? It’s a/an……? (Ask)Is this a /an……? (Answer)Yes, it is./No and it isn't. (2)Talk about the material object in the classroom: (Point to a thing nearby and ask students )Is this a /an……? (Get Ss to answer )Yes, it is .No, it isn't. (Point to a thing at a distance and ask Ss.) What's that in English? (Get Ss to answer)It's a/an……. (Ask)Is that a/an……? (Get Ss to answer )Yes, it is .No, it isn't. (Ask) Is this your……? (Get Ss to answer )Yes, it is .No, it isn't. (Ask) Is this his/her……?      Yes, it is ./No, it isn’t. (Ask) Is that your/his/her……? (Get Ss to answer )Yes, it is .No, it isn't. Step 2 Activities   Get the Ss to practice conversations and communicate with each other: What's this in English? It's a/an……. Is this your……? Yes, it is .No, it isn't. What's that in English? It's a/an…….  Is that your/his/her……? Yes, it is .No, it isn't.

Step 3 Experiences (1)Play the tape of Activity 1b and get the Ss to listen and choose the proper conversations and mark the order, finish the teaching task of Activity 1b. (2) Play the tape of Activity 2c and get the Ss to listen and choose the stationery nouns and finish the teaching task of Activity 2A. (3)Play the tape of Activity 2b and get the Ss to fill in the blanks with the words they have heard on the tape ,then finish the task of Activity 2b.

Step 4 Activities (1) Get the students to do pairwork and finish the teaching task of oral intercourse in Activity 2c    What's this in English? It's a/an……. (2)After finishing the tasks, the teacher asks questions according to the things in the picture. (Ask) What's that in English? (Get Ss to answer)It's a/an……. (Ask) How do you spell it? (Get Ss to answer) P-E-N/……. (3) Get the Ss to do pairwork and finish the teaching task of oral intercourse in Activity 3. What's that in English? It's a/an……. How do you spell it? P-E-N/…….  

Step 5 Survey   Put some stationeries into a big box, lead Ss to use the sentence patterns learns to look for the object. --Is this you ……?--Yes it is./ No, it isn't.
