新高一英语教案
Unit 1 Good Friends
Period 1
I Teaching Aims:
1. Help the students understand what qualities a good friend should have and thus direct them in making good friends.
2. Help the students master some important and useful words and expressions.
3. Grammar: direct and indirect speech.
4. Improve their reading and writing skills.
II Teaching Steps
Step 1 warming up and speaking
Say to the Ss: Many of you must have made some friends. Can anyone describe one of your good friends?
(Let the Ss talk about their friends or the stories that happened between them and their friends.)
Then let the Ss talk about the good qualities of a good friend
Step 2 listening
Listen to the short dialogues between two friends.
After listening, let the students discuss how the settle the problems between the two friends.
III Extension
Step 3
The aim of this class is to foster the abilities of listening and speaking, as well as their writing abilities. So it is important to give the students a chance to practice their writing abilities—to write one of their old friends.
Period 2-4
I Teaching Aims
1. To learn something about how to survive in the wild.
2. To train the abilities of skimming and scanning the text.
II Presentation
Have a free talk with the students about what we need and how to survive in the wild. Then ask the students how they feel being alone in the wild.
III. Reading
1. Let’s the students read the passage as quickly as they can. Try to answer the following questions.
(1) What is Chuck Noland?
(2) Why is Chuck on the island?
(3) Why has she been working so hard?
(4) What kind of friend does he have ?
(5) How long does he stay there?
(6) What does he learn there?
Key to the questions:
(1) He is a successful manager.
(2) His plane crashes and he luckily survives the crash.
(3) A volleyball.
(4) Five years.
(5) He learns how to survive and what friendship is.
Step 3
1. Play the tape for the students to listen and follow, then give some time for the students to read the passage aloud to be more familiar with the material.
2. Deal with some language points with the whole class.
3. Consolidate the important new words and phrases in this unit.
Period 5
Step 1. Post reading
Ask the students to do the exercises first and then check the answers together with them
Step 2 word study
Let the students do the exercises in their books. Both of them can help to consolidate their learning of the new words and phrases. Allow them to discuss in pairs.
Step 3 Grammar: Talk about Direct and Indirect Speech
1. When one is talking to someone, he is using Direct speech, while he quotes others’ words, he is using Indirect Speech.
Direct Speech: John said, “ I like adventures”
Indirect Speech: John said that he liked adventures.
2. When changing Direct Speech in to Indirect Speech, we should pay attention to the changes in sentence patterns, persons, tense, time and index pronouns.
Go through the sentences in the book with the whole class.
3. But in some situations, there shouldn’t be such changes.
Homework
1. Finish the Ex for the language points and grammar.
2. Read the passage again and again.
3. write a short passage about how to survive in the wild.
